Description

One-Pan Chicken and Broccoli Orzo is a creamy, comforting weeknight dinner you can make in about 35 minutes. Tender chicken, broccoli florets, and al dente orzo simmer in a savory garlic-Parmesan broth for a luscious sauce. Everything cooks in one skillet, making prep and cleanup a breeze while delivering cozy, family-friendly comfort. Perfect for busy nights, it reheats well for lunches and leaves you with leftovers full of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast, diced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup uncooked orzo
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup broccoli florets, chopped small
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley or extra Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced chicken, season lightly with salt and pepper, and cook until lightly browned.
  3. Stir in onion and cook 3–4 minutes until softened.
  4. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Stir in uncooked orzo and toast for about 1 minute.
  6. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a gentle boil.
  7. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Add broccoli and cook 5 more minutes until orzo is tender.
  9. Stir in Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning until creamy.
  10. Garnish with extra Parmesan or parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Heat the olive oil until shimmering before adding chicken for better browning.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent the orzo from sticking to the bottom.
  • Finish with extra Parmesan or a sprinkle of chopped parsley for a fresh finish.
  • Leftovers reheat well in microwave or on the stove with a splash of broth if needed.
