This skillet-friendly dish is easy, scalable, and restaurant-worthy, pairing beautifully with pasta, rice, or crusty bread. Perfect for busy evenings or a comforting family meal—full of flavor, quick to prepare, and naturally gluten-free.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  4. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Stir well.
  6. Simmer sauce for 8–10 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Add shrimp to the sauce and cook for 3–4 minutes, turning once, until pink and opaque.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice and parsley.
  9. Serve warm over rice, pasta, or with bread.

Notes

  • For milder heat, omit red pepper flakes.
  • Do not overcook shrimp; it should be pink and just opaque.
  • Make ahead: prepare sauce first and add shrimp at serving time.
  • Leftovers refrigerate well for up to 2 days.
